Write a message to David McBride

David McBride spent over two years in prison for telling the truth. He never stopped believing it was right.

Throughout his ordeal and imprisonment, your support meant the world to him. In his own words: "Your support has been a light in here – knowing people outside these walls still care, still speak up, and still believe in justice has carried me through more than you know."

Today he is free. If you'd like to leave him a message, we'll make sure he receives it.

David is a former military lawyer who blew the whistle on the conduct of Australian forces in Afghanistan. His disclosures to the ABC led to the landmark Afghan Files investigation. Rather than being protected for speaking up, he was prosecuted under secrecy laws, denied the whistleblower protections he should have had, and in May 2024 sentenced to five years and eight months in prison. He served two years and three months.

David sacrificed his freedom for the truth – and we are so grateful for his courage. If you feel like leaving him a message of thanks or support, please do.
