Our impact
Public pressure works – and we have the track record to prove it.
Earlier this year, the Albanese Government introduced the FOI Amendment Bill 2025 – the biggest proposed rollback of government transparency since FOI laws began in 1982. Funded by donations from everyday Australians, WJF helped build a civil society coalition against it, lobbied Parliament, and placed a full-page open letter in The Australian. The political cost became too high. Labor withdrew the Bill before it could be defeated.
