Australia's freedom of information (FOI) system is broken – and the Albanese Government is choosing to keep it that way.
The public has a right to know what decisions are being made in their name. FOI laws are supposed to guarantee that right. Instead, government departments are refusing, delaying, and burying requests for public information.
The Albanese Government was elected on a promise of transparency. But so far in government, those promises have been abandoned.
